Overview The daily calorie tracker from livestrong.com is a nice tool if you are trying to watch your calories. It has several helpful features and a large database from which to draw food items. It also can link into your profile at livestrong.com where they have even more features to help you live a healthy lifestyle. Features: To get the most from this app you should create a profile at livestrong.com and then link the iPhone app to your new account. On your computer you can input some of your vitals like your gender, your current weight and your weight loss goal. Based on this information your are given a daily caloric intake target. The app then allows you to input your calorie intake and your calorie expenditures (exercise and activity) to help you reach your weight goals. You can tap the “Food” icon to enter your foods from a database of 450,000 different meals, ingredients and restaurants. I usually am able to find what I am looking for, even if it is something from a local restaurant. Then as you eat you just put in the foods that you eat and you will get an idea of how many calories you have left to eat. The “My Plate” icon keeps track of the foods you have eaten. You can search by date if you would like. Tap the “My Weight” icon to see a quick line graph showing your weight over the past few days. From there you just tap the “Current Weight” icon and enter your weight for the day. Having this capability on the iPhone makes it fairly simple to track your weight and look-up the nutritionals on your meals. The “Fitness” icon allows you to search the fitness database where you can estimate how many calories you burn with each activity. It is a fairly comprehensive database, most activities are listed there. Summary The Livestrong.com Calorie Tracker App for iPhone is a useful tool to help you reach your weight goals. It is best used in conjunction with the website but it can also be useful to search the database if you are out eating and want to choose a healthy alternative. No app on the iPhone (or any phone for that matter) will make you lose weight. It really just takes will power and discipline but if you have those two things, this app will help you reach your goals.
