When OUTSIDE your local network, the free My EyeTV service can automatically connect the EyeTV app to your Mac back home, as long as your internet router supports UPnP or NAT-PMP protocols (the same protocols used by Apple’s ‘Back to My Mac’ feature.) If your router does not support those protocols, you will need to manually configure it to forward port 2170. If you are using the OS X firewall, be sure to allow connections from both EyeTV and EyeConnect. If that doesn’t allow you to connect, try disabling the firewall temporarily.
